Hello!

I’m Erica, the maker behind Maple & Embers

My work lives at the intersection of fiber, texture, and quite design. I’m drawn to pieces that feel soft, intentional, and comforting to wear - garments and accessories that invite you to slow down and notice the details.

Knitting and crochet began as a simple love for making, but over time that curiosity deepened into a fascination with stitch patterns, garment construction, and the way texture and color interact with the body. I spend a lot of time swatching, experimenting, and studying how small details transform yarn into something expressive and wearable.

I’m especially interested in thoughtful shaping and garments that move comfortably with the body. My designs aim to balance simplicity with subtle artistic detail - pieces that feel timeless but still hold a quiet sense of personality.

This space is both portfolio and journal of that creative process. Here you’ll find projects on my needles, swatch explorations, tutorials, and the slow unfolding of my work as a designer.

Much of my inspiration comes from the natural world - the softness of shifting light, the textures found in plants and landscape, and the quiet comfort of being surrounded by handmade things.

When I’m not working with yarn, you’ll often find me tending flowers in the garden, settling into a cozy chair with a romantasy book and a warm beverage or watching the newest K-Drama on Netflix.

My goal is to design knit and crochet pieces that feel thoughtful, wearable, and full of quite texture.
