Hello!
I’m Erica, the creative behind Maple & Embers
Maple & Embers is a creative field journal rooted in observation, curiosity, and the joy of making. Through knitting, gardening, watercolor, photography, sewing, and other creative studies, I explore how ideas take shape and slowly become something more.
I'm drawn to things that feel soft, intentional, and comforting - pieces and practices that invite us to slow down and notice the details. The way light moves through a garden, how colors interact, the texture of a fabric swatch, or how a garment settles onto a body all become sources of inspiration.
What began as a love of knitting and crochet has grown into a broader creative practice centered around studying, experimenting, and translating observations into tangible pieces. I spend a lot of time swatching, collecting inspiration, exploring color relationships, and following sparks wherever they lead.
This space isn't about mastering a single medium. It's about allowing creativity to evolve naturally and documenting the process along the way.
Thank you for being here and studying creativity with me.
Much of my inspiration comes from the natural world - the softness of shifting light, the textures found in plants and landscape, and the quiet comfort of being surrounded by handmade things.
Outside of creating, you'll often find me tending flowers in the garden, settling into a cozy chair with a romantasy book and a warm beverage, or watching the newest K-drama. These slower moments often become sparks for future studies, color palettes and creative explorations.
